Course description
What is this place we call home? What, if anything, is unique about our campus and its history? How does that history speak to us today? This course will examine the history of the campus from the establishment of the first Native American boarding school in 1887 until the present. It will focus on shifts in educational philosophy and policy as different education institutions came to occupy the site, as well as the changing nature of the student experience through time. Students will use a variety of primary and secondary source materials in developing individualized research projects based on archival research.
